Abstract: Cornufer guentheri is an unusual frog in that its diet includes small vertebrates as well as insects and other invertebrates. We describe how the anatomy of the head shows adaptations for this diet and suggest that the absence of small mammalian carnivores in the fauna of the Solomon Islands has allowed a frog to occupy this niche.
