dc.description.abstractThis thesis is concerned with the transmission and distribution of vibratory power in built-up structures, and in particular, structures characteristic of naval ships. The study consists of a detailed investigation of the wave transmission properties of structural junctions, followed by an analysis of the wave propagation through plates with periodic stiffeners. The results are used to develop Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) models for the prediction of vibration levels in structures characteristic of naval ships.en
