Abstract: | Investigates, through the conceptual apparatus of Foucauldian analysis, poverty and unemployment in South Australia during the economic downturns of the 1890's and 1930's. That there is a direct parallel with the pattern of events in England is investigated through press representations in periods of severe economic contraction. |
