Abstract: Quantifies the effects of sleep deprivation on performance, validates methods of objectively measuring the sleep-wake activity of shiftworkers and investigates the effects of shiftwork on both sleep and performance in the laboratory and the field. Shows that actigraphy is a valid and reliable method of determining sleep-wake in shiftworkers.
