Abstract: | Paper based on the Opening Presentation of the Fourth Australasian Conference on Tenancy Tribunals and Associated Bodies, Adelaide, September 2001 - Residential Tenancies Acts, adopted in Australia during the 1970s and 1980s, revolutionised the law relating to rented housing - present laws on leases are more equitable than at any time in our history - the Acts have proved to be a major catalyst for the later introduction of legislation controlling retail tenancies - the need for further reforms in the area of residential tenancies law. |
