Abstract: |
In South Australia the squirrel glider (Petaurus norfolcensis) was only known from one museum specimen from Bordertown collected in 1939. During a genetic study of Petaurus breviceps, using nucleotide sequence variation in mitochondrial DNA, two additional museum specimens collected near Bordertown, were identified as P. norfolcensis and recent field investigations in the area provided two additional specimens. The nearest locality for P. norfolcensis is the eastern side of the Grampians, several hundred kilometers east.
|
