Abstract: Tunable and temporal characteristics of Ho/sup 3+/-doped silica fibre laser in different configurations were described. Wavelength tuning over 160 nm was demonstrated and a 4.3-W single-transverse-mode 2.1-/spl mu/m output power was obtained for a 0.6-m Ho/sup 3+/ fibre.
