Abstract: Intrameniscal stresses were measured with conductive pressure sensors inserted into the 2 menisci of a porcine knee joint. The stresses were measured at 3 different locations per meniscus, throughout the entire motion range and at increasing moments in extreme joint positions. The motions analysed were extension-flexion, and external-internal rotation at a 90° flexed knee. Meniscal peak stresses generally occurred in extreme positions, i.e., in maximal extension, maximal flexion, and maximal external and internal rotation. The measured stress increases with the moment applied to joint. In middle positions of the joint, the meniscus stress is minimal compared to extreme positions
