Abstract: Henoch-Schönlein purpura is a multisystem disorder of unknown etiology that primarily affects children. Gastrointestinal manifestations are common in the acute, active phase with 2 to 5% of patients developing significant lesions requiring surgical intervention. Late complications are unusual and infrequently documented. We report a case of chronic small bowel obstruction due to an ischemic stricture of the distal ileum presenting 3 months after an episode of Henoch-Schönlein purpura.
