Abstract: | This paper presents the first demonstration of the use of laser ablation technique to seed flames at atmospheric pressure with neutral indium atoms for two-line atomic fluorescence (TLAF) temperature measurements. Laser ablation is employed to generate neutral indium atoms within the fuel stream well upstream from the burner exit. The indium atoms are seeded into a premixed and a partially premixed laminar flame. The fluorescence results reveal findings about the specifics of generating neutral indium atoms at the reaction zones. The temperature results also demonstrate the expediency of the technique in providing measurements over a wider range of flame conditions with good spatial fidelity. |
