Abstract: Ground clutter can seriously degrade the performance of weather radars at low elevation. Algorithms such as the clutter phase alignment (CPA) and texture of reflectivity (TBDZ) are commonly used to identify regions of range-azimuth weather radar maps containing ground clutter. In this paper the use of a wavelet based approach is proposed and experimental ROC curves comparing the performance of the three approaches on data from a typical C-band weather radar are compared.
