Abstract: | This paper demonstrates the application of an approach to storage capacity estimation using a classification system that closely follows the Petroleum Resource Management System (PRMS) recommended by the Society of Petroleum Engineers. We apply the approach to an assessment of the storage capacity of a hypothetical, but representative storage site in the Surat Basin, onshore Australia. The assessment assumes the CO2 is captured from sources in south Queensland and transported to the potential storage site. We estimate that the “Prospective Storage Capacity” is between zero and 560 million tonnes. |
