Abstract: A numerical study using RANS and hybrid RANS-PDF approach is presented for the Jet in Hot Coflow (JHC) flames. The effect of various physical processes (reaction, turbulent mixing, molecular diffusion) and fluctuations in mixture fraction on the accuracy of the model is discussed. Overall, the outcome indicates that molecular mixing model in the PDF formulation is a dominant factor in the inaccuracies of the PDF model.
