Abstract: Human osteoblast phenotypes that support osteoclast differentiation and bone formation are not well characterized. Osteoblast differentiation markers were examined in relation to RANKL expression. RANKL expression was induced preferentially in immature cells. These results support an important link between diverse osteoblast functions.
